The world is an illusion

The world is an illusion

by arashsahra

For centuries people have killed over borders, flags, gods, kings, and ideas and called it destiny, justice, or necessity. We build cities, then invent reasons to bury them. We dress fear in noble language and send others to die for it. The oldest human habit might be mistaking willingness to die for proof that something is worth dying for. Right now it’s happening in Iran. External pressure. Internal repression. An economy that has forgotten how growth feels. Rivers running dry. Forests burning. Tables empty, faces emptied out, futures postponed indefinitely. And still the demand comes from every direction: pick a side, believe in this flag, hate that enemy, trust this salvation. Under every flag the same fragile thing keeps bleeding—ordinary human lives that mostly wanted a safe morning, clean air, and a home that would still be standing tomorrow. It’s a strange arrangement. We fight over pieces of ground that will outlast every one of us. We torch the present for a future none of us will inhabit. We silence the living on behalf of abstractions that have never drawn a breath. Borders will shift, governments will fall, commanders will become photographs, and the photographs will become dust. Rivers won’t remember the speeches. Mountains won’t keep score of the victories. The bleak part is that most of us already know this and keep going anyway. Living inside the illusion means accepting that the world is an illusion. It is treating the temporary as eternal—sacrificing real people for imaginary permanence, as if history is watching and keeping a ledger. History doesn’t mourn. The earth doesn’t care who won. When the smoke clears, what’s left is simply the lives that weren’t protected. So the question remains, from inside the wreckage: if none of us stay, and nothing we build stays, what exactly was all the suffering for? _ photo by Arash Sahra location: Iran , Hormoz island , red soil factory camera: Xiaomi note 13 pro
