I have learned to distrust appearances... The glass captures the afternoon sun... Colors spill across the floor... Red... Gold... Blue... The same light that once illuminated kings... The same light that watched generations arrive... worship... disappear... And then... There is the air... One notices it immediately... A peculiar heaviness... Not threatening... Not hostile... Merely present... As though the room itself is withholding something... A secret... A memory... A name never recorded in any scripture... The saints remain silent... The stained glass remains silent... The ruins remain silent... And yet... Something speaks... Not through words... Not through sound... But through that ancient feeling one encounters in forgotten places... The feeling that you are not discovering the past... The past... Is discovering you...
