The Bound Body, The Bound World
by ☀Mitra✨_SGP
In this painting, the woman’s body and the surrounding cracked walls narrate the story of worlds closed off to her—both from within and without. Her attire is not merely clothing, but a word uttered in the language of hegemony; the crumbling architecture, an echo of the ancient pressures etched upon her soul. The woman stands at the intersection of these two enclosures; neither submissive, nor liberated. She exists in a moment of silence where a human being strives to forge a new meaning from within their chains—even as the world, and the body itself, remain suffocatingly tight. Multimedium and mixed media (charcoal, pencil, colored pencil, and oil thinner) on cardboard, approx. 30×40 cm.
